Apple and affiliated companies have finally decided to adopt a more universal connector – the soon to be released Type-C USB standard.  Time will tell whether opening connectivity between Apple devices and other non-Apple devices will be a benefit or will hurt Apple’s “Apple only or else” status.

Citrix to axe VDI-in-a-Box as company restructures

And all along we thought that VDI was getting some traction in the marketplace.  Maybe the price is too high for small businesses.

And VDI – Virtual Desktop Infrastructure – seems to occupy a trasitional space in the enterprise until companies are in a better position to consider webapps and cloud deployment.

“Citrix acquired VDI-in-a-Box from Kaviza in 2011 as a low-cost alternative to XenDesktop for SMBs.”  But it seems they need to reconsider the pricing structure as sales haven’t matched expectations.

Google Lifts the Turing Award Into Nobel Territory – NYTimes.com

So cool to see that the unsung (or partially sung) heroes of the tech community getting the recognition they deserved.   The surprise is that Intel withdrew while Google stepped up and quadrupled the award from $260K to $1M, putting the Turing in the same class as the Nobel prize.
