Now 6 Billion Mobile Phones Worldwide

That’s billion with a B!

According to Wikipedia, the following table lists the number of mobile phones in use by country.  And notice that in some cases there’s more than one phone per person.

And why is that important you ask?  Because most of them belong to people who live in third-world countries where telecommunications infrastructure is finally developing digitally and much faster than it did in “developed” countries.   Curious isn’t it?
